Project Overview
The Heart of Asia is a UI/UX and interactive web design project created in Figma. The project reimagines the traditional museum experience as a digital platform where users can explore Afghanistan’s historical landmarks, architecture, patterns, landscapes, and cultural stories through a visually engaging interface.
Instead of presenting information through static pages, the experience encourages exploration and discovery through immersive layouts, curated content, and interactive navigation.
Concept & Meaning
The portrait shows the subject with one eye covered, symbolizing partial blindness—not being completely lost, but still figuring things out. One hand reaches forward, representing determination and the willingness to move ahead. The dark background represents uncertainty, while the strong light in front symbolizes opportunity and future direction. Binary code elements were added to connect the concept to learning, technology, and discovery.
Design Process
1. Research & Content Planning
I researched historical landmarks, architecture, cultural patterns, and visual references from Afghanistan. The goal was to identify key stories and organize them into a structure that users could easily explore.

2. Information Architecture
Before designing screens, I organized the content into clear sections and user pathways. This helped define how visitors would move through the experience and discover different landmarks

3. Visual Direction
The interface was inspired by museum experiences and cultural archives. I explored:
- vintage framing
- Overlays
- immersive imagery
- atmospheric layouts
- editorial-inspired composition
- Portland Art Museum
- Google Arts & Culture
- Walter Art Museum
to create a sense of discovery and depth.

4. UI Design & Prototyping
Using Figma, I designed the interface, navigation system, landmark pages, and interactive user flow. The prototype focuses on creating a seamless experience that encourages exploration while maintaining readability and visual consistency.

Outcome
The final prototype demonstrates how cultural storytelling can be translated into a modern digital experience. By combining UX thinking, visual design, and interactive prototyping, the project creates an engaging way for users to learn about architecture and cultural heritage through design.
