Overview
This project is a short-form social media PSA. The goal was to explain the concept of halal in a simple, modern, and respectful way for a general audience.
The piece was designed for social platforms, using calm visuals and clear messaging to make the topic easy to understand within a short time frame. The concept focused on answering the question “What is Halal?” in under one minute.
The PSA introduces halal and haram, highlights hidden ingredients to be aware of, and ends with a lifestyle-focused message: “Your lifestyle is your identity.” The tone was intentionally calm, clean, respectful, and educational, avoiding heavy or aggressive visuals.
Design Process
1. Storyboarding & Structure
I created hand-drawn storyboards to plan the visual flow of the PSA. Each slide was designed to communicate one idea at a time, such as defining halal, showing what is haram, and giving quick label-reading tips. This helped keep the pacing clear and easy to follow.

2. Visual Style & Mood Board
I developed a mood board using watercolor textures, soft green tones, and organic shapes. I worked with artistic watercolor styles and a watercolor wet brush to keep the visuals gentle and warm rather than rigid or harsh.

3. Typography & Assets
I selected the Muffin Family font from Adobe Fonts to support a friendly and approachable tone. I designed custom assets such as icons, labels, symbols, and background elements, making sure they followed a consistent visual style.

4. Feedback & Revisions
Based on some feedback I got, I refined several parts of the design. I adjusted asset consistency, reduced edge crowding, balanced green tones, and refined elements like the leaf graphic so it matched the rest of the style. I also added subtle background motion to improve visual flow.

5. Motion & Animation
I built the animation in Adobe After Effects by importing assets gradually and organizing them using pre-compositions. I animated text using typewriter effects, scaling, fades, and opacity changes to guide attention. I used color intentionally, such as red for “haram,” to emphasize key points. More advanced techniques like track mattes, parent linking, trim paths, and effects such as Turbulent Displace were used to create smooth transitions and visual interest.

Outcome
The final result is a polished vertical motion PSA designed specifically for social media platforms. The project demonstrates concept development, visual consistency, motion design fundamentals, and the ability to communicate an educational message clearly within a short format.
